Laminitis is a true medical emergency. Quick action can make all the difference in your horse’s recovery. If you suspect laminitis, here’s what to do right away:

  •  Call your vet immediately.

  •  Ice or Cryotherapy the feet. Minimum 2x p/day.

  •  Restrict movement. Keep the horse in a deeply     bedded stall to prevent further damage. Use therapy boots.

  •  Feed ONLY soaked and drained hay until your vet gives further instructions. Nothing else. NOTHING.

  •  Journal signs. Heat in the hooves, increased digital pulse, reluctance to move, feed intake, modalities initiated, vitals, etc.

  •  Stay calm, act fast, and always put welfare first.

  •  Consult an equine nutriton expert.
